Age Range – 3 – 4 years
Primary Skills – Fine motor skills, sensorial skills
Materials:
- White chart paper/plain paper
- Brown coloured paper (optional)
- Bubble wrap
- Scissors
- Glue
- Yellow and brown paints
- Paintbrush
- Black markers/sketch pen
Instructions:
- On the sheet of white paper, draw a large-ish outline of a beehive (see images for reference).
- Then, cut out a similar outline of a beehive from the bubble wrap (see image below for reference). Don’t worry it doesn’t have to be a perfect cut!
- Next, help your child paint the bubbly side of the bubble wrap with yellow paint, and quickly press it inside the beehive outline on the white paper. Let dry.
- Then, either cut out a little door from brown coloured paper or from plain paper which, your child can then paint brown. Alternately, your child can paint the brown door directly onto the paper.
- Next, take out a darker shade of yellow paint (darker than the beehive) in a container. Help your child dip his finger in the paint and press it quickly several times around the beehive on the paper. Let the paint dry.
- Lastly, take a marker or some black paint, and draw lines across the bees’ bodies, wings, heads, and a sting on the yellow fingerprints to make honeybees (see image for reference).
The bees and beehive are ready! Don’t they look so summery and bright?
