Materials Required

  • Yoghurt
  • Food colouring
  • Wooden skewers
  • Yoghurt container lids or any plastic lids
  • Hot glue
  • Tray or pan
  • White paper

Instructions

  1. This activity ensures a lot of messy fun, so remember to spread some old newspapers and get your kids in their old clothes.
  1. First, make the yoghurt paints by adding yoghurt to small containers or bowls and generous amounts of food colouring to each bowl.
  1. Next, make the spinning tops by making a hole in the lid’s centre and passing the skewer through the hole, keeping 1 ½ inches of the skewer below the lid.
  1. Spin the skewer-lid top to see if it works, then secure it with hot glue.
  1. Now comes the fun part! Place a sheet of paper on the tray, spoon the different paints on the lid, and let your child spin the top to make beautiful designs.
  1. Watch as the tops make rainbow-like designs on every surface they touch. Remember, this painting cannot be preserved if you’re using yoghurt paints, as the paint will start cracking

This is a unique way to make memories and create art with your little ones! You can find many similar activities on the Intellikit Summer Camp page.
