Paper Ghosts

It may not be Halloween yet, but who doesn’t love cute ghosts? The perfect craft for little kids, for this spooky activity, you need newspapers, a black marker pen, and scissors. Give them to your little one and let her draw cute ghosts on the paper and cut them out. Stick these to a wall or use them as bookmarks for a spooky surprise every time you open a book.
Newspaper Fans

Another easy craft for your little one, this is a craft we have all made as kids. Give your little one a double sheet of newspaper and show her how to make multiple folds till she reaches from one end to the other. Tie a string on a rubber band on one of the ends of the folded paper to hold it together, and voila- your child made a fan. She can make cute drawings before folding the paper to make a fan or keep the newspaper as it is. Wonderful relief from the summer heat and a great way to keep your little one occupied.
Newspaper Flowers

There are so many types of flowers that you can make using old newspapers. This craft has an easy rose, and all you need to make these pretty roses is a newspaper, pen, scissors, and glue. Start by asking your child to draw a spiral on a newspaper and cut it out. Rolling from the centre, roll the paper tightly to make a rose and stick the end using the glue. Repeat the process to make more flowers; you can make bigger spirals for bigger roses and small spirals for smaller ones. You can either wrap the flowers in some newspaper to make a bouquet or stick it on a thin twig.
Paper House

This craft uses not only old newspapers but also milk cartons. Apart from the newspaper and milk carton, you need glue, scissors, and sketch pens. First, cut the top of the milk carton, wash and dry them. Next, give the cartons to your child and ask her to wrap them with the newspaper, securing the ends by sticking them to the carton. Now, it’s time to add the details to make your paper house look like a house or tall skyscraper. Let your little one decide what she wants her house to look like.
Heart-Shaped Garlands

This simple craft is easy to make and pretty to look at! Involve your kids in making this garland and let them choose how they want to decorate their garland. Take some newspaper, string, glue, and scissors. To make the flags of the garland, cut 7×14 cm rectangles from the newspaper. Fold each rectangle in half, first horizontally and then vertically. On the vertical fold, draw a small half of a heart, and cut it out. Open the fold to see the heart and repeat this step will all the rectangles. Now, open the horizontal fold, and stick the flags to the string using the glue in a way that the heart appears in the middle on either side of the string. Next comes the best part-decorating the flags. You can use buttons, glitter, or make hearts using sketch pens. Let your kids have fun with it. Hang up the garland once it’s ready.
Colourful Owls

Let your kids have fun with this colourful craft. Most children love painting, and you can show your artistic side with this craft. Take some newspaper and give your little one a paintbrush and some watercolours and let her paint as much as she wants. Once the paint has dried (allowing it to dry overnight will be best), cut out the shape of an owl’s body. From a paint-free newspaper, cut two small ovals and circles to make the wings and eyes, respectively. Guide your child in sticking the different parts of the owl together and use a sketch pen to draw the eyes and add accents to the wings. You can also cut a small triangle to make the beak of the owl. A creative activity that will let your child use her artistic skills.
Paper Hats

Everyone loves a cute paper hat, and it’s a great prop for pretend play. Take a double sheet of newspaper and fold over the two top corners to make triangles, leaving an inch of paper at the bottom. Fold over the inch left at the bottom, in the front and the back. Your paper hat is ready! Let your little one make her own, or use this one and paint it to personalise it!
