When families come together, different strengths, perspectives, and opinions come together. The best way to make the most of any family get-together is to utilise opportunities to strengthen the bond and create memories. The Croods, the McDucks, and the Parrs had goals and dreams that each member aligned with, but for normal people like us, it is different. If you’re searching for ways to strengthen the bond in your family, look no further. These games and activities will do the trick. We know that some of you might miss out on binge-watching a series, but trust us, the JOMO (joy of missing out) you’ll experience will be beyond your expectations.
Here’s what you can try.

1. Get The Groove On!
Bring the Saturday Night Fever in your house, groove, and show your moves, no matter how silly they are. Dancing is a good way to express your feelings and emotions and is a great stress buster. If you managed to get the entire family on the dance floor, we want to know the playlist.
2. Yoga-tta Stretch
The family that exercises together, gets sore together! In the best possible way! Exercising is a fabulous way to promote physical, mental, and emotional health among your loved ones. So, awaken the sleepy heads, slip into your workout clothes, gather any props you have and try all possible yoga stretches together. We like the corpse pose the most.
3. Let the Board Games Begin!
For a while, the trending game might have been the Pandemic, but the classics cannot be forgotten. So, Scrabble your way through the Game Of Life, looking for a Clue, or launch the Battleship and ‘cover the Queen’; there’s so much for the imagination to explore together through these board games. But did you know that board games also help develop patience and enhance pro-social and problem-solving skills? In the words of Grandmaster Savielly Tartakower, ‘The blunders are all there on the board, waiting to be made.’ Go ahead and make these blunders with your family. At the end of it, all of you will come out as wiser individuals.
4. Avengers: Pillow War!
Unleash the Avengers inside you and seek the Infinity Stones. You only get one weapon to carry for your safety – your PILLOW! Be careful not to step onto others’ sheets; you could enter the Quantum Realm and shrink forever.
5. Paper And Pencil Games
Or paper and pen games, or crayons, or sketch…. you can use whatever is accessible… Games like Dots and Boxes, Hangman, Tic-Tac-Toe, Pictionary, Sprouts, etc., might seem simple, but mind you, they are not. They will make you rack your brains and even unleash the competitor in you. The battlefield, this time, is the paper.
6. Pump Up the Jam!
Stretch your vocal cords, practice all your chords, and pump up the jam with your loved ones! Can’t play an instrument? No worries; karaoke all night long and spend a musical time with your dear ones!
7. Let’s Go Fly A Kite!
Flying to the moon might not be possible at present, but it will be… soon. For now, how about flying kites with your family? Kite flying is a thrilling activity that engages the participants and the spectators equally. It involves the entire family in different capacities and helps develop and enhance so many skills like commun
ication, eye-hand coordination, gross motor, teamwork and leadership skills. This is a great activity for a picnic, too, before grabbing a bite and heading back home.
Give some of these a try the next time your family is getting together, and let us know how it went in the comments below!
