Primary Skills – Fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, creativity

Materials:
- Small paper plates/chart paper
- Brown wrapping paper
- Coloured paper
- Paints/crayons/sketch pens
- Craft supplies (buttons, ribbons, colourful tape, cotton balls, stickers, shape punches, etc.)
- Scissors
- Glue
- Pencil
- Tray with compartments/individual containers
Instructions:
- First, let’s set out all the craft supplies in separate containers, or in a tray with compartments.
- If you have coloured paper, cut it up into small squares, triangles, circles, etc. and put the pieces in a compartment/container.
- Next, set out a few small paper plates. If you don’t have paper plates, you can cut out circles from chart paper! These are the balloons.
- Then, let your child choose from any of the art and craft supplies to decorate the balloons. He can paint and colour them, do drawings and doodles on them, or make decorations with coloured paper bits, buttons, ribbons, cotton balls, etc. The world (of the art and craft supplies) is his oyster!
- Help him paste the buttons, stickers, ribbons, etc. on the balloons. Make sure he doesn’t try to put anything in his mouth! You know how little kids love to explore how various things taste!
- Keep aside the balloons to dry. Then, it’s time to make the basket!
- From brown wrapping paper, cut out a square, and two thin and long rectangular strips. Paste the rectangles vertically at the two top corners of the square, making a slight V-shape with the arms (see image for reference). You can draw a woven pattern on the rectangle shape to make it look like a basket.
- Lastly, paste/tape the arms of the basket behind each balloon to complete the craft.
The hot air balloons are ready! How much fun was that?
