Materials:
- Cereal box/tea carton
- Paints in rainbow colours (purple, dark blue, blue, green, yellow, orange, red)
- White paint
- Marble/small ball
- Scissors/cutter
- Glue/tape
- Ribbon (rainbow-striped or regular)
- Plastic container to hold the cardboard box
Instructions:
- Let’s begin by carefully opening up the cereal box. Try not to cut off any part of the box!
- Lay the box flat, with its insides facing out.
- If the inside of the box is not white, then help your child paint it white. (The box will be reassembled inside out!) Let it dry.
- Next, take the plastic container, and place the painted box flat (if possible) in it.
- Take out the rainbow coloured paints in separate containers.
- Then, take a marble or any similar sized ball. We will dip the marble in the paint and let it run across the white painted box in the plastic container!
- Start with the darkest colour (purple/dark blue). Help your child coat the surface of the marble with the paint, and place it on the white painted box. Then, shake and rattle the plastic container so the marble runs across the white surface and leaves paint marks.
- Repeat this with all the colours till your child is satisfied with the number of colours on the box.
- Let the box dry completely.
- Next, it’s time to reassemble it. Carefully put the box back together inside out. Use glue or tape as needed. Fold and glue down the flaps of one side to make the opening of the purse.
- Use a hole punch to make two holes on each long side of the box.
- Lastly, take two long pieces of ribbon (rainbow-striped or regular), and loop them through the holes on either side to make handles.
- The rainbow purse is ready to use!
Didn’t your little one absolutely enjoy that?
