Primary Skills – Fine motor skills

Materials:

  • Plain paper
  • Plastic fork (with a smooth back)
  • Paints
  • Container
  • Pencil/marker
  • An old cloth/old newspaper

Instructions:

  • First, take out some yellow and white paints in separate containers. Your child can also choose any other colour he likes. The point is not perfection, but to have fun and be creative!
  • Then, lay the sheet of drawing paper. To make it easier for your child to paint, trace an outline of the pufferfish on the paper (see image for reference).
  • Then, show your child how to hold the plastic fork, dip its back in the white paint, and press it onto the paper inside the pufferfish drawing (see image). Let him do this for the bottom half of the fish.
  • Then, wipe down the fork with an old washcloth or some old newspaper, turn the paper upside down, and let him paint the top half of the fish with the second colour of paint.
  • Next, with a paintbrush or with his finger, let him colour in the ears of the fish.
  • Let the painting dry completely. Then, as the last step, help him draw on a funny pair of eyes and a nose on the pufferfish to complete the look!

The fork painting masterpiece is ready!
