Primary Skills – Fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination

Materials:
- Paper cups (plain or patterned)
- Coloured paper/plain paper/magazine pages
- Pencil
- Scissors and glue
- Yarn
Instructions:
- First, let’s make the body of the goldfish. Take the paper cup, and cut out its base (Mom and Dad, it’s best if you do this step, as it might be difficult for your child to handle a blade!)

- Next, help your child draw two fins and a tail on coloured paper, and help him cut them out with safety scissors. If using plain paper, your child can paint the cut-outs. Or, to make it easier, find some coloured or patterned magazine pages, and use those for the fins and tail!

- Before pasting them on, flatten only the wide rim of the paper glass, and staple or glue the open end together. The small open end of the paper cup makes up the mouth of the goldfish.
- You can also paint or decorate the paper cup fish body, if you like!
- Then, help your child paste the fins on either sides of the paper cup. After that, paste the tail at the closed wide end of the cup (see image).

- Next, draw on a pair of eyes near the mouth opening. Or, if you have googly eyes at home, they work well, too!

- Lastly, paste a string of yarn inside the mouth.

This activity was done at home by a child from the Firstcry.com family!
