Age Range – 4 – 6 years
Primary Skills – Fine motor skills, logic skills
- Paper plates (if unavailable, use cardboard boxes)
- Straws
- Scissors
- Glue
- Pencil
- Marbles/round beads
Instructions:
- Take a large, sturdy paper plate or a cardboard box that can hold multiple pieces of straws. If your child wants, he can colour and paint it for a festive, fun look.
- Next, take a bunch of straws. They can be paper or plastic, plain, coloured or striped.
- Help your child cut up the straws in different lengths, as these pieces will make up the maze.
- Then, together with your child, decide how the maze should be put together. For ease, use a pencil to mark “Entry” and “Exit” points on the plate/box, as well as the maze lines.
- Once you’ve decided on the puzzle, help your child glue the straw pieces onto the paper plate/box in the form of the maze. If you’ve marked out the maze lines, then simply stick the straw pieces onto those lines! Let dry completely before using.
- Put a marble or round bead through the entry point and let your child navigate it through the maze towards the ‘Exit’!
Wasn’t that a super fun project? Plus, if you make different mazes, it’s a game that can keep your little one occupied for hours!
