“Why are you making such noise?” asked the donkey.

“I’m singing because my owner plans to cook me for dinner!” cried the rooster. “I want to sing as much as I can before my time is up!”

“Come with us to Bremen,” said the donkey. “You can be our singer!”

The rooster agreed, and now the four friends set off together towards Bremen, excited about their new adventure.

As night fell, they grew tired and hungry. They spotted a light in the distance and decided to investigate. It led them to a small house where some robbers were enjoying their stolen feast.

“Let’s scare them away!” suggested the donkey.

The animals quickly formed a plan. The donkey stood on his hind legs, the dog jumped up behind him, the cat climbed onto the dog’s back, and finally, the rooster flew up high and perched on top of everything. Together, they made a terrible racket!

“Hey! What’s that noise?” shouted one of the robbers.

“It sounds like a witch!” cried another.

“Run for your lives!” yelled their leader.

Terrified by the strange sounds and shadows, the robbers fled into the night, leaving their food behind. The four friends entered the house and enjoyed a hearty meal before settling down for a good night’s sleep.

When morning came, they felt happy in their new home. They decided that instead of continuing to Bremen, they would stay in this house where they were safe and well-fed.
