The Wild Swans Story For Children

Once upon a time, in a faraway kingdom, there lived a beautiful princess named Elisa. She had twelve brothers whom she loved dearly. One day, their father, the king, married a wicked enchantress who was jealous of Elisa’s beauty and her brothers’ bond.

In her spiteful rage, the enchantress cast a terrible spell on the twelve brothers, turning them into wild swans. “Fly away! You will never return to this castle!” she shouted as they transformed before her eyes. They were forced to fly away from their home every night and could only return at dawn. Heartbroken by her brothers’ fate, Princess Elisa vowed to find a way to break the enchantment.

Determined to save her brothers, Elisa set off on a quest to find them. She wandered through forests and over mountains until she reached an old woman known for her wisdom. “Please help me,” Elisa pleaded. “My brothers have been turned into swans by an evil enchantress!”

The old woman listened carefully and replied, “To break the spell, you must weave twelve shirts made from stinging nettles and throw them over your brothers while they are in their swan form.”

With renewed hope, Elisa returned home and began her task. She bravely collected nettles from the forest despite their painful stings. Each time she pricked her fingers while weaving the shirts, she thought of her brothers and how much she loved them.

Days turned into weeks as she worked tirelessly in secret. “I will not give up,” she whispered to herself as she stitched late into the night. Finally, after much effort and sacrifice, she completed all twelve shirts.

But Elisa’s spirit remained unbroken. With cleverness and determination, she escaped one night when the enchantress was distracted by her magic mirror.

“Dear sister!” they exclaimed in unison. “You have saved us! But one brother still cannot speak,” said another sadly.

Elisa looked at them with determination. “Together, we will confront our wicked stepmother!”

They returned to their castle with newfound strength and unity, where they devised a plan to expose the enchantress’s evil deeds before their father.

When they confronted her with their newfound strength, Elisa declared boldly, “You have harmed us for too long! We will not be silenced any longer!”

The king was furious upon learning of his wife’s treachery. “How could I have been so blind?” he cried out in despair as he banished her from the kingdom forever.

With their family reunited and free from enchantment, happiness returned to their lives. They celebrated together with joy in their hearts as they embraced once more.

Elisa’s bravery and determination had saved her brothers from their plight. They rejoiced together under the moonlit sky as swans flew overhead.
