Long ago, in the East, this colour was recognised as a masculine colour, representing slain Japanese samurais. In the West, the colour pink turned into a fashion symbol for the Europeans, who started wearing this colour, in a pastel tone, in the mid-1700’s.

  • Nudibranch: This mollusc is always confused with the sea slug but is known to change colour, which is dominantly pink, to wherever they are.
  • Pink Hairy Squat Lobster: This crustacean is not a lobster at all but belongs to the crab family. It is mostly in pink, to camouflage around the pink giant barrel sponge.
  • Orchid Mantis: This insect is known to sit on the orchids and lure insects into eating them up. They camouflage beautifully with the flower and are known to attract more insects than the flowers do.
  • Web-Footed Gecko: While this gecko is known to be found in the desert, one of the strangest things about this particular gecko is that it has no eyeballs and has to lick its eyeballs to keep them moist!
