Sheikh Chilli Story For Children

A very long, long ago, there lived a nitwit whose name was Sheikh Chilli. His stupid actions made him popular among his friends, and they enjoyed his company a lot.
One fine day, the village zamindar or the landlord sent for Sheikh Chilli. The landlord was famous for his dishonesty. He asked Sheikh Chilli to count all the houses in their village and promised to pay him at the rate of fifty paise per house.
Poor Sheikh Chilli agreed and worked hard for many hours, walking through the streets and lanes, counting houses. In the evening, he returned to the landlord, told him the total number of houses to the zamindar, and received his payment.
Later that day, some of Sheikh Chilli’s friends came to know of it. They came to see him. One of his friends said,
“I am sure the landlord has cheated on you,” another friend said, shaking his head from side to side.
“Oh, no. This time he didn’t.” Sheikh Chilli replied confidently.
“Didn’t cheat on you? How do you know,” another friend asked surprisingly.
“I know because this time I cheated on the dishonest landlord!” Sheikh Chilli replied, looking very pleased with himself.
“What do you mean?” asked his friends.
“I gave him a smaller number of houses,” came the proud reply from Sheikh Chilli.
“In fact, I gave him half the number of houses which I had counted!” replied the foolish Sheikh Chilli.

“Don’t worry, my friends, I cheated on him this time!” replied Sheikh Chilli. “I only told him half the number of houses I counted!” he said.
Hearing this, his friends had a good loud laugh.
