Preparing for a new school year can be daunting for many. Even Harry Potter experienced nerves when prepping for his first magical academic year. He needed the letter of acceptance, of course, a ticket for Hogwarts Express, which he’d have to board from Platform 9¾, a wand, uniform, school books, and other school supplies. While he had Hagrid and some of his fellow students to help him at all times, each item he acquired brought a new set of adventures for him. Basically, a new school year is like treading a known-unknown path for every child and their parents. Now that your kid will soon be back to school, you are likely to experience the same jitters, probably a bit more, since you and your little one have been accustomed to online classes for a while. Returning to the school routine will be different this time. But, to ease a few things for you, we have put together a list of essentials your kiddo’s ‘new normal’ school bag must-have.
Things Your Child’s ‘New Normal’ School Bag Must Have
To get any further with this, ensure you have a backpack that is just the right size, like Perkin’s tent, and can accommodate your child’s notebooks, textbooks, and everything we’ve recommended below. You may head to a ‘Diagon Alley’ physically, or virtually if you want to save your time and energy, to buy these supplies.

1. Stationery And Pencil Box
Be sure to pick quality feather quills and… pardon us; we meant stationery items that your little one can use to express and demonstrate how talented they are. The Summoning Spell won’t work if you miss out on little things, like a scale or a pencil sharpener, so get every item your child is likely to need and arrange it neatly in a beautiful pencil box.
2. Lunchbox And Water Bottle
Lunchtimes during online classes were almost like those at Hogwarts, weren’t they? Your child could sit with all of you at the dining table and peacefully eat a meal in the safety of their house. But now, you’ll need to get a good lunchbox, too, to pack ample healthy, homemade food for your little one to sustain those 5-7 hours at school. Don’t forget a decent-sized reusable water bottle so that your child can stay hydrated throughout the day.
3. Hygiene Essentials
Packing essentials, such as a bottle of sanitiser, paper soap or hand wash, some wet and dry tissues, a mask pouch/case, and an extra mask will ensure your little one has everything they need to keep themselves safe, especially during their commute to and from school. To keep these items accessible, you may get a pouch large enough to carry it all, or use an extra compartment that hasn’t yet been used in the school backpack.
4. Rain Gear
By the time your child is back to school this year, the monsoon Gods will have made their presence felt. Therefore, a raincoat, gumboots, an umbrella, and a waterproof bag cover are worth buying. They will keep your little one, and the school supplies nice and dry and make going back to school convenient and enjoyable.
As a parent, you may give each item a good thought before purchasing it, but try not to miss out on anything that will help your little one stay safe at school.
