You will often find little children snatching clothes from adults and running and hiding them at every given opportunity. Some children also start throwing tantrums about wearing this or that when they start gaining knowledge about themselves and their surroundings. Children, at this point, are at their learning stage. Therefore, it is easy for them to easily grasp whatever they are taught.
We must teach our little ones about clothes names in English and improve their clothing vocabulary. Children will find it fun to read about the name of different clothes and the season in which they are worn. Activities That Will Help Your Child To Learn About Clothes Name
Teaching types of clothes names is a very important step in children’s education. Teaching clothes vocabulary to kids is a lot more fun when learned using exciting games and activities. Below you’ll find some useful and fun activities to help your children learn about clothing items.
1. Clothes Flashcards
Make flashcards of clothes that you make your child wear on a daily basis. On day one, teach your child the name of each cloth item on the flashcard. For the next few days, show these flashcards to your child and ask them to name the cloth piece given on the flashcard.
2. Laundry Time
Yes. Laundry time can be teaching time for your child. Involve your child while doing the laundry and ask them to pick a certain cloth piece and put it in the washing machine. For example, you can say to your child, “put your jeans in the machine”, or “pass me your yellow shirt to put in the dryer”, etc.
3. Guess The Cloth Piece
Take some sheets and draw only the outline of the clothes on them. Show these sheets to your child, one sheet at a time, and let them guess the name of that cloth. If their answer is correct, give them the sheet and let them colour the cloth piece.
4. Read And Find The Clothes
Give your child a short story to read. Ask them to circle or highlight all the cloth items they come across while reading the story. This activity will not only help your child to know about cloth names but will also sharpen their reading and concentration skills.
5. Complete The Picture
Draw half image of clothes like a skirt, shirt, jeans, etc., on a paper. Let your child complete the rest of the image and colour it. Kids will enjoy drawing and colouring the clothes with their favourite colour. Colouring the clothes will also strengthen the small muscles in their fingers and hand.
